This catalogue accompanied Sharjah Biennial 8, which attempted to renegotiate the relationship between art and ecology into a system of cohabitation, an idea developed through project descriptions and essays questioning the impact of human geography on the planet in economic, social, environmental and political terms. The book opens with notes from Director Hoor Al Qasimi and Artistic Director Jack Persekian, followed by curatorial essays from Mohammad Kazem, Eva Scharrer and Jonathan Watkins, then further essays on the theme of art and ecology and documentation of the Biennial's artworks, with contributors including Hisham Al Madhloum, Mona El-Mousfy, Munir Fasheh, Manish Jain, Francesco Manacorda, Akiko Miki, Trevor Smith and Raimar Stange.
